Spinal manipulation, often referred to as chiropractic care for pets, can provide several benefits for your furry companions. Here’s an overview of the advantages of spinal manipulation for pets:
1. **Pain Relief**:
- Spinal manipulation can help alleviate pain associated with musculoskeletal issues, such as arthritis, disc problems, or injuries, providing comfort for pets suffering from chronic pain.
2. **Improved Mobility**:
- By realigning the spine and joints, chiropractic adjustments can enhance your pet’s range of motion and overall mobility, making it easier for them to engage in daily activities.
3. **Increased Flexibility**:
- Regular spinal manipulation can help maintain or improve flexibility, allowing pets to move more freely and comfortably.
4. **Enhanced Nerve Function**:
- Proper spinal alignment promotes better communication between the nervous system and the rest of the body, which can improve overall health and function.
5. **Support for Rehabilitation**:
- After surgery or injury, spinal manipulation can be an effective part of a rehabilitation program, helping pets recover faster and regain strength.
6. **Stress and Anxiety Reduction**:
- The gentle nature of chiropractic care can have a calming effect on pets, potentially reducing stress and anxiety levels.
7. **Improved Posture**:
- Spinal adjustments can help correct postural issues, which may reduce strain on muscles and joints, leading to better overall body mechanics.
8. **Enhanced Performance**:
- For active or working animals, spinal manipulation can help optimize performance, ensuring that they are functioning at their best.
9. **Preventative Care**:
- Regular chiropractic check-ups can help identify and address potential issues before they become serious, contributing to long-term health and wellness.

In Florida, one must be a licensed Veterinarian that is trained and certified in Spinal Manipulation!
Unfortunately some human chiropractors offer this service without training on the dog, cat or horse. Each of which has variances in bone structure and joint movement. Each animal expends different forces on their joints than humans do and their motion of the joints is different.
Trained chiropractors in Florida can perform chiropractic therapies on animals if they meet TWO criteria; they have been trained and certified for ANIMAL spinal manipulation AND they have a PRESCRIPTION BY THE ANIMALS VETERINARIAN to perform the modality on the patient.
If the chiropractor is not trained in animal spinal manipulation from a credible program; an underlying disease process they are not aware of or have an understanding of could lead to disastrous results!
If you chose to have your family chiropractor perform manipulation on your pet, please be sure to ask for a prescription from your veterinarian as well as proof of certification in training from your chiropractor.
The term chiropractic is reserved specifically for chiropractors and can only be used by human chiropractors. Veterinarians must use the term Spinal Manipulation to describe the exact same therapy. Did you know there are differences in technique? Not every animal is supossed to move the same way!
